Winter Sports The Ultimate Challenge . The first Winter Sports title on the Nintendo Wii is a very solid one, especially at the budget price.
The presentation is very solid. The game runs with a widescreen mode, has smooth graphics, and good sound. In addition to the in-game music, there are two witty European commentators that provide some interesting and funny banter. There is a very neat opening ceremony, and medal ceremonies complete with national anthems. Load times are minimal, and bugs are non present.
There are over fifteen events in nearly every Winter Olympic discipline. There are two varieties of Speed Skating, several varieties of Skiing, Skeleton, Luge, Bobsleigh, Figure Skating, and Curling. The majority of the events controls very well and provides intelligent and innovative uses of the Wii remote and Nunchuck. With the sliding sports, for example, while on the track you hold the remote in the Steering Wheel fashion. With Figure Skating, you use the remote and Nunchuck like in a rhythm game, very similar to the method used in the Wii version of “Dancing With the Stars.” Sadly, the controls for Curling seem to be broken or, at the least, extremely difficult to use. But, all of the other events control very well.
The game has a skill-building career mode, 4-player multiplayer, single event play and traditional tournament modes. Overall, for the price, it’s a very solid package that’s enjoyable in both single and multiplayer modes.

Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts ‘09 . Get into bone chilling, pressure-packed hunting situations as you seek out savage animals in the world’s most dangerous locations. In Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2009, you will face raw danger as you encounter the fiercest animals on earth, including lions, grizzly bears, jaguars and more. Accurately modeled Cabela’s equipment in the game means the firearms, tactics and gear are all realistic and precise – but this won’t always help in the face of an unpredictable, open environment packed with avalanches, elephant stampedes, and piranha infested waters. If you do miss a shot and fail to stop a charging man-eating animal, you will be forced to fight it via a melee defense – but pay attention; it’s likely another nearby animal will join the attack.

Careen around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a hand-built 1960s speed machine that hits speeds of nearly 180 mph and rides only 7 inches off the ground. Survive a moving minefield of crashes, spinning cars, rolling tires, oil slicks and 32 rivals competing for the perfect racing line. Set from 1961-1971, a period of loose rules and ever-faster cars, Indianapolis 500 Legends lets players experience the traditions, rivalries, terrifying speeds and jaw-dropping maneuvers of the Brickyard as they take on the arcade-style gameplay. Assume the roles of 30 of the sport’s most daring real-life legends like Al Unser, A.J. Foyt and Parnelli Jones as they draft, dodge and slingshot on a track where speeds of up to 180 miles per hour defined racing’s frontier mentality. Experience crashes, upsets and thrills with mission-based racing that puts you in the middle of some of the Indy 500’s most famous and infamous moments. Drive the last of the front-engine roadsters; experiment with the first turbine cars or strap on the earliest sets of bolt-on wings. Rounding out the experience are pit stop mini-games that include changing tires and refueling. Players can also unlock historic Indy memorabilia.
